Sharing My Story (2).png

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.  Many people ask me a lot about a lot. I’ve decided to share in hopes that it will help someone along the way.  So here’s to Sharing My Truth…

I’ve been doing spiritual fasts for years, at least once a year. Even before I understood spiritual fasting, many years ago, I started the lemonade fast to lose weight and definitely turned into a spiritual journey when you are only drinking for 10 days.  At that moment, I learned to do nothing without God.

In January 2021, I joined in the fast with some spiritual leaders. I’ve completed the Daniel fast several times but something clicked this year that has started me on a journey.  After 21 days, my body felt good and I wanted it to stay that way. I, like Daniel, set out to avoid “rich” foods for the pallet to concentrate on “rich” foods that are good for “my” body.  I know that more water and more vegetables are good for me so I continued on my journey with no end date in mind.

In this season of my life, I wanted to do what was best for me, my business, and God, of course. I’ve been living a purpose-driven journey for a while but sometimes I lose sight of the wholistic view. Well, now I am concentrating on my self-care, the whole me.

You know we hear a lot about self-care these days, it’s trending everywhere.  It is vital to your well-being.  We often think that it means getting a massage, nail care, or taking a trip but that’s not all.  Taking a moment to access what you need to do to be your best self.  I decided to do a mental full body scan and there were some things that were screaming at me, i.e. inflammation in my body, foods that made me not feel well after eating them, food sensitivities, etc.

I took the bull by the horn. I decided that I will start my self-care by changing the way that I eat.  How can I eat to live and not live to eat?  I can take it one step at a time. I continued my fast by continuing to eat fruits and vegetables only, no dairy, plant-based carbs and no processed sugar.

Self-care is My Why.  What’s your why? And what are you doing to care for yourself?
