truth two.

The idea of one giving birth to this small person and them growing into a big human, baffles me.  When you think about it, many things start small.  A seed is planted, and a watermelon grows.  Jeff Bezos said in an interview, “The biggest oak starts from an acorn, and if you want to do anything new, you’ve got to be willing to let that acorn grow into a little sapling and then finally into a small tree, and maybe one day it will be a big business on its own. We know that big things start small.”

This year my birthday fell on a weekend.  I was about 30 days into the Daniel Fast.  What should I do?  Eat the cake?  It’s nothing like celebrating with good cake and good food for your birthday.   I knew that if I ate the cake for my birthday, it would be a slippery slope back to craving sweets every day.   You know there are studies that say sugar is just as addictive as cocaine.

Understanding my why led me to take small steps toward my wellness and wholeness. I decided not to deprive myself of everything, so I incorporated seafood for my birthday.  No cake, only a mimosa or two. Another small step but still on the journey.

I recently told a friend that I ate vegan-ish during the week and incorporated seafood on the weekend.  The response was…

Friend: “What did meat do to you?“

Me: Nothing. Lol.

Friend: So why aren’t you eating meat?

Me: I need more vegetables, more nutrients and if I am not eating meat, I will concentrate on eating more vegetables.  Small steps.  Discipline.

Imagine you creating discipline in your life and taking small steps to achieve your goal of self-care, wellness and happiness.  The goal is to be disciplined in every area of my life – from what you put in your body, to how you handle your career/job/business/relationships.  Making the decision to continue this journey was small to me but there will be some big results.

Happy Birthday, Big Girl! You got this! Small steps lend “big” results! What are your small steps?
